There are only a few winter records of Hoopoe in Morocco, from late November through early January (since Smith 1965). They are scattered throughout the country and suggest that some birds overwinter, but it is not known whether these are local or from Europe (Thévenot et al. 2003).
This one, photographed by Abdellatif Al Ouardi between Tiddas and Oulmès on 26 december 2018, will not see 2019 (in Facebook).
