Abstract.

Early nesting of the Temminck’s Lark (Eremophila bilopha) in southern Tunisia.

In this note, we report the observation of a Temminck’s Lark Eremophila bilopha chick on 17 February 2025 in the Bir Soltane region of southern Tunisia. This sighting suggest that egg laying occurred 5 to 6 weeks earlier compared to the known breeding period of this species in Tunisia; and is very likely correlated with the heavy rainfall in southern Tunisia in the previous autumn and early winter.
