Abstract.

Summary: First breeding of the White-headed Duck Oxyura leucocephala at Dar Bouazza, west of Casablanca (Morocco).

The White-headed Duck Oxyura leucocephala, a small diving duck classified as ‘Endangered’ on the IUCN red list, has been present at the Dar Bouazza daya since mid-March 2025. Courtship displays were observed in March and early April, and two young were photographed in early June, in addition to two more observed at the end of the same month. This is the 7th wetland in Morocco where this species has bred since its reappearance in the country in the early 2000s. It is also the southernmost.

ملخص :أول تعشيش للبط الشوال أبيض الرأس بضاية دار بوعزة غرب الدار البيضاء (المغرب).

 تم توثيق وجود البط الشوال أبيض الرأس Oxyura leucocephala، وهو بط غطاس صغير مُصنَّف ضمن الأنواع المهددة بالانقراض في القائمة الحمراء للاتحاد الدولي لحفظ الطبيعة (IUCN)، في ضاية دار بوعزة منذ منتصف مارس 2025. وقد سُجلت الاستعراضات التزاوجية خلال شهري مارس وأبريل، وتمت مشاهدة فرخين في أوائل شهر يونيو وآخرين في نهاية نفس الشهر. يُعد هذا الموقع سابع منطقة رطبة في المغرب يتكاثر فيها هذا البط منذ ظهوره من جديد في البلاد مطلع القرن العشرين. يعتبرهذا الموقع هو الأبعد جنوبا بالبلاد.
