Abstract:

Nesting of the Slender-billed Gull Chroicocephalus genei at the Ahmed El Hansali dam, Morocco.

We report the first breeding of the Slender-billed Gull in Morocco since mid-1980s. The species nested at an islet in the reservoir of Ahmed El Hansali in the region of Beni Mellal. The recurring droughts witnessed across Morocco in recent years led to a decline in the reservoir’s water level, which resulted in the emergence of the islet on which the species bred.
