Abstract:

First nesting of the Common Shelduck Tadorna tadorna in Morocco at Marchica (Sebkha Bou Areg).

In May 2023, one pair of Common Shelduck Tadorna tadorna successfully nested at the coastal wetland of Marchica (Sebkha Bou Areg), a Ramsar site on the Mediterranean coast of Morocco. The Common Shelduck is not currently in the list of breeding birds of Morocco and this observation represents the first proven breeding case for this species in Morocco.
