A dozen of Royal Terns Sterna maxima on the coast South of Tangier on 25 September, together with Audouin Gulls. ‘Interestingly, we have seen groups of Royal Terns in the same region several times in recent years. The area is certainly a regular site for the species in autumn. They are very rare in the Tarifa area and Spain while Lesser Crested Terns are regular. Perhaps this is the limit of their range – or they continue along the Mediterranean Coast?’ (Javi Elorriaga, Birding The Strait)
