18 March 2016 – A possible Kelp Gull at Dakhla

A possible Kelp Gull at Dakhla, West promenade sea front (on open ground in front of a commercial building with several blue doors), on 12 March. Here is Martin’s description : ‘‪… noticeably larger than Lesser Black-backed Gull, mantle as dark as Great Black-backed, legs grey with a greenish wash, heavy bill in goynal/tip area, three small white tipped primary feathers at rest. Dark eye. The tail was all white and I would expect it to have moulted to a full adult plumage by the autumn’ (Martin Coates, Peter Clement, Chris Small and Geoff Cowley)
