Abstract:

First confirmed breeding cases of the Blue-cheeked Bee-eater Merops persicus in Tunisia.

During the summer of 2023, 14 pairs of Blue-cheeked Bee-eater Merops persicus were found nesting in five sites in south-west Tunisia, specifically in the governorate of Kebili. This observation constitutes the first evidence of reproduction of this species in Tunisia and suggests the existence of a small population breeding, at least irregularly, in the country.

خلال صائفة 2023 عشّش 14 زوجا من طائر آكل النّحل (أو الوروار) الفارسيّ في خمسة مواقع بالجنوب الغربيّ التّونسيّ، وعلى وجه التّدقيق بولاية قبلّي، وتُعدّ هذه المشاهدة الحُجّةَ الأولى على تكاثر هذا النّوع من الطّيور بتونس وتشير إلى وجود مجموعة صغرى منها معشّشة بالبلاد التّونسيّة وإنْ بصورة غيرِ منتظمة
